Oppose Markwayne Mullin's Nomination for DHS Secretary
DHS needs the rule of law, not Mullin.
We must act now to protect our values and the rights of vulnerable communities. President Trump recently fired Kristi Noem from her role as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and appointed Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin in her place. Mullin, a dedicated supporter of Trump’s MAGA agenda, holds extreme views on immigration that threaten families and human dignity.
He has pushed legislation like the Laken Riley Act, stood by ICE following tragic incidents like the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and even suggested deporting American-born children alongside their undocumented parents. Under Trump’s leadership, DHS has faced criticism for violating human rights, misusing public funds, and ignoring legal mandates. Confirming Mullin would only perpetuate these issues, especially as his hearing draws scrutiny.
As a progressive women’s organization, we stand against policies that harm women, children, and immigrants. Please call your Senators today and urge them to vote no on Mullin’s confirmation.

I was not really aware of Markwayne Mullin before he was put forth by Trump to replace Kristi Noem. However, the more I learn about him the more concerned I am that he is completely unsuitable to lead DHS. He voted against certifying the 2020 election results. During a committee hearing in 2023, Mullin challenged a union president to a fight and had to be stopped by the committee chair. He celebrated the vicious physical attack on Rand Paul. We don’t need a hothead in this important position who celebrates violence as a good solution when ICE is already regularly running amuck by assaulting and even killing innocent citizens and residents. Of course the Republicans will probably support Trump’s choice.
